In an international divorce case, the first step is usually the most important one. It is also the step that matrimonial lawyers are almost always entirely unqualified to advise about.  

Family lawyers are primarily local. They are trained to be experts in their local jurisdiction. They are not qualified to provide advice as to other jurisdictions.

You will consult with Jeremy D. Morley by telephone -- or in person at our office in New York City if you prefer. In the initial consultation, Mr. Morley will take a detailed history of all relevant facts from you. 

Based upon the facts that you provide Mr. Morley will: 

·         Inform you of possibly appropriate jurisdictions. 

·         Review with you the law applicable in such jurisdictions. 

·         Review with you the pros and cons of proceeding in such jurisdictions. 

·         Review with you any practical steps that you might take in order to enhance the possibility of a jurisdiction accepting your case. 

·         Discuss your case with lawyers in the potential jurisdictions. 

The value of such advice may well be incalculable. If you proceed down the wrong path it does not matter how great your lawyer is, or how hard you may fight, or how much you may spend, since you will still likely end up in the wrong place.  

Our service is offered on a fixed-fee basis. Our job is to help you find the right path at the outset.
